Jan Marcason was born and raised in Kansas City. She received an MBA from UMKC in 1999, completed the Denali Initiative for Social Entrepreneurism Fellowship in 2002 and has a degree in Education from Kansas University. Jan and her husband, Dick, are actively involved in their Southmoreland neighborhood.
For the past 16 years, Jan has served as the Executive Director of
the Mid America Assistance Coalition, where she managed
an annual budget of more than a million dollars and helped direct millions
more to local social service organizations.
Jan is active with Ivanhoe Neighborhood Front Porch Alliance and the
Maternal and Child Health Coalition. She was the president of the Women’s
Political Caucus and served on the Missouri Commission on Retirement,
Removal and Discipline of Judges. She is also a board member of the
National Fuel Funds Network.
Previously, Jan’s public service extended to Washington, D.C., where she worked for former Vice President Walter Mondale, among others. As a leader of the Junior League, Jan helped start the Jazzoo fundraiser that has brought millions of dollars to help the Kansas City Zoo, and she is active in the local United Way. Jan is a member of Citizens Association and the Committee for County Progress.

• improving crime fighting measures in the 4th District and increasing the effectiveness of all public safety programs.
• maintaining the integrity of the Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC) and increased funding for overdue improvements throughout the 4th District, with an emphasis on streets, curbs, sidewalks and sewers.
• prioritizing unique 4th District projects, including wastewater upgrades, sewer modernization and catch-basin construction
